On August 26, 2026, a devastating flash flood struck the Himalayan region along the Nepal–Tibet border. A sudden release of enormous amounts of water, mud, rocks and debris swept through the valleys, destroying homes, roads, bridges and entire communities.
The disaster has particularly devastated areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, with serious impacts and warnings extending toward Gorkha and Chitwan. Places such as Timure, Rasuwagadhi, Syafrubesi, Dhunche, Mailung, Betrawati, Trishuli and Devighat have suffered severe destruction.
Behind every damaged house is a family. Behind every missing person is a mother, father, husband, wife, child, or friend waiting and praying for their loved one. Many families have lost their homes and possessions, while rescue teams are still searching for those who are missing. The disaster has also damaged roads and bridges, making rescue and relief work extremely difficult. We have received word from around 11 churches where believers and Pastors and many families are missing; many have lost their dear ones, and churches have been damaged.
At this difficult time, we request everyone to stand with the people of Nepal in prayer.
URGENT PRAYER POINTS
Pray for the families who have lost loved ones—that God will comfort them in their grief and give them strength.
Pray for those who are still missing—that rescue teams will find them alive and bring them safely home.
Pray for the injured and displaced families—for healing, food, clean water, shelter, and protection.
Pray for the pastors and church leaders—that God will protect them, strengthen them, and give them wisdom as they care for their congregations.
Pray for the rescue workers, Nepal Army, Police and volunteers—that God will give them wisdom, strength, and safety as they search and rescue people.
Pray for Rasuwa and Nuwakot and all the affected communities along the rivers—for protection, rescue, and restoration.
Pray for the affected churches and believers—that God will provide everything they need and use the churches as instruments of hope, comfort, and practical help.
Pray for roads, bridges, electricity, and communication systems to be restored quickly so that relief can reach isolated communities.
Pray for protection from further floods and landslides and for favorable weather conditions during rescue and relief operations.
Pray for God’s provision for relief work—food, drinking water, medicines, temporary shelters, clothing, and other essential supplies.
Foreign nationals from other countries — people from the United States, Ukraine, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, South Africa and many other countries have been reported missing or affected.

May the Lord strengthen Nepal, comfort every grieving family, protect those who are still in danger, and use His people to bring hope, compassion, and practical help to those affected by this tragedy.
